College of Liberal Art (CLA) CLA aims at cultivating students who are well versed both in Chinese and Western scholarly traditions. In addition to the main curricula, CLA also offers specialized programs and courses which support students in developing diverse skills. The Humanities Digital Archives and the Value-Added Application Program provide the students with the ability to collect digital archival information. The Deer Cultural Heritage Center offers training courses and internship opportunities to develop students’ skills in news coverage and editing, as well as media and image production and broadcasting. The Language Center offers a Chinese course package intended for foreigners and international students. College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) As the largest and oldest College at the NCHU, CANR has a long history of planning and promoting strategies for sustainable food supply and soil, water, and nature conservation in Taiwan. Through a dynamic educational system, innovative research programs, and down-to-earth extension services, the College plays a pivotal role in communicating and cooperating with local non-agricultural sectors and also in promoting international connections, exchanges, and cooperation. College of Science (CS) The College of Science consists of four Departments: Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Physics and the Institute of Nanoscience. Its goal is to train students and researchers in monodisciplinary as well as multidisciplinary science with emphasis on nanotechnology, biophysics, organic and biological chemistry, and advanced mathematical techniques for computer applications. College of Engineering (CE) With the goal of improving industrial development and human condition, CE focuses on the creation of new products or adding value to existing ones by working in the fields of opto-electronics, information technology, communications, polymer engineering, precision machinery, nano-technology, and special function materials. The CE faculty members also conduct research on hazard mitigation, vibration control, and environment conservation in order to reduce damage and increase durability. College of Life Sciences (CLS) This College aims at cultivating independent, well-rounded experts who investigate the inner workings of animals, plants, and microorganisms through innovative research methods. It covers the subject through the fields of biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, population biology, and ecology. Faculty members of the College use interdisciplinary approaches to study gene structure, function, regulation, development, evolution, and interaction with the environment, and apply their findings to improve life on earth. College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) The of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s mission is to advance animal and human health through education, research, and service via functional integration of veterinary science, which is taught in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, the Graduate Institute of Microbiology and Public Health, and the Graduate Institute of Veterinary Pathobiology, as well as clinical medicine conducted in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and Animal Disease Diagnostic Center. The research of the two graduate institutes mainly focuses on the diagnosis and prevention of epidemic diseases of humans and animals by modern technologies. College of Management (CM) NCHU’s College of Management is an AACSB-accredited business school. The College, consisting of five departments, two graduate institutes, one EMBA, and four research centers, provides high-quality, student-centered academic programs and promotes interdisciplinary research and industry collaboration. The four research centers— Cornerstone Center for Academia-Industry Research, Center for Industrial Development Research, Center for Financial Risk Management, and E-commerce & Knowledge Economy Research Center—contribute to industrial development by providing innovative consulting and training services. College of Law and Politics (CLP) This College consists of one department, three graduate institutes, and nine research centers, and offers degrees as well as courses in the following fields: law, international politics, national policies & public affairs, and educational studies. The faculties of CLP offer research-based and professional trainings to students. They also consult local governments, international agencies, and corporations. The nine research centers are committed to academic research through publishing periodicals and hosting seminars, forums, and conferences in the field of law and public affairs. Some research centers also focus on promoting regional studies with focus on contemporary China, Japan, Korea, South Asian states and the Middle East. College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CEECS) The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CEECS) offers training in a vast area. It includes communications, computer science, control, electrical power, multimedia, Internet, artificial intelligence (AI), optoelectronics, solid state, electronic circuits, wafer (chips) designs, micro-electromechanics, and automation for future applications which are in the fields of information security, unmanned AI technology, cloud services, big data applications, intelligent agriculture, etc. International College of Innovation and Industry Liaison (ICIIL) For the purpose of expanding education, this College offers non-credit, short-term programs to provid6e students with the knowledge and skills of industrial workforce. It does so by cooperating with corporations, government agencies, and universities. In the international college, the Tri-continental Master Program in Global Studies (TRIM) offers Master’s degrees to students with the global training in business management, law, economics, and cultural studies at three universities: the first semester at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) in Germany, the second semester at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) in Taiwan, and the third semester at the University of Monterrey (UDEM) in Mexico. |
