Global Program in Interdisciplinary Studies（Undergraduate Program）

This program is planned based on the idea of “Chinese learning as the foundation and interdisciplinary learning as the feature”. 128 credits are required for graduation. Courses provided can be categorized into “Required Chinese Courses”, “Required Common Courses”, “Chinese Societies”, “Operating and Management”, “Asia Pacific Topics” etc., for foreign students who have learned basic Chinese and whose first language is not Chinese. Moreover, students can take courses in different professional fields through dual degree programs, minor programs, and credit programs, also can take “second specialties” courses provided by other departments based on career planning and interests.

School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences 
The School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences was established in 1970 on the philosophy of "enhancing cultural literacy and addressing social concerns". It includes the Department of Chinese Literature, the Department of History, the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Social Work, the Department of Music, the Center for Teacher Education, and the Program of Human Rights, the Creative Humanities Program, and the Non-profit Organization Management Program. These eleven teaching academies are developing cross-department curricula, strengthening practical and experimental courses, encouraging further development of programs, students, and teachers, and expanding domestic and international academic and practical cooperation and exchanges to cultivate outstanding talents in social and humanities studies.

School of Foreign Languages and Cultures 
As part of the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, the Department of English Language and Literature, the Department of Japanese Language and Culture, the Department of German Language and Culture, and the Language Center are all designed to develop talented foreign language students to become experts possessing "excellent language skills," "foreign language and humanities skills," "cross-cultural communication skills," and "global perspectives." Our research primarily focuses on "foreign language, literature and culture," including publishing journals and conducting seminars. Much of the efforts are devoted to expanding the worldview of students by providing them with advanced and well-rounded facilities as part of a full range learning environment.

School of Science 
The School of Sciences' educational goal is to cultivate a habit of practical and analytical thinking, a good grasp of basic scientific theories, the ability to integrate various technology applications, an open mind, and a well-developed sense of academic ethics. The Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Microbiology, the Department of Psychology, and Forensic Science Program all have the characteristics of "placing equal emphasis on both the theoretical and the practical, dividing classes into small lab and practice groups, establishing off-campus internship and university-industry partnerships to provide internship in a real world environment, and focusing on innovative teaching strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness." We pay special attention to individual teachers' professional research and interdisciplinary research groups. Our active teaching and abundant research capacity is the basis for the implementation of numerous projects supported by grants from various ministries and industries, and have annually resulted in a fruitful harvest of awards and patents.

The School of Law upholds the motto "Unto A Full Grown Man" in cultivating modern legal professionals with a world view and continues to improve the quality of legal education with unremitting diligence. The School of Business adheres to an honest and steady learning style. In addition to strengthening the professional training of students in business management, the school emphasizes the need to improve literacy in humanities. With "high quality teaching," "research specialization," "open worldview," and "proactive services and guidance" as its educational philosophy, the school is committed to turning students into high-class business talents possessing high ethical and moral qualities, an international outlook, and professionalism. In response to the trend for innovation and risk management in a knowledge-based economy, the school integrated teacher resources from the Department of Economics, Department of Accounting, Department of Business Administration, Department of International Business, Department of Financial Engineering and Actuarial Mathematics, and Department of Computer Science and Information Management to offer the "Technology Management Program" and "Finance Program," as a way of promoting interdisciplinary courses to help expand the area of diverse learning for our students.

School of Big Data Management
The School of Big Data Management is the first domestic academic institution that mainly focuses on the management of big data (huge amount of information with large scale data set). The School will officially begin in September 2015, enrolling 90 undergraduate and 20 graduate level students. At the initial stage our research and development will be focusing on actual practice of big data analysis and management applications. Much stress will be put on industry-academic collaboration, and knowledge application integration to develop big data management professionals for the new century.
