NTU is Taiwan’s most comprehensive university offering excellence in teaching and research in a wide array of subjects. More than 200 degree programs, ranging from the natural sciences to the humanities and social sciences, are underpinned by cutting-edge research and vibrant academia-industry cooperation. NTU features an international learning environment with more than 800 courses being held in English every semester. NTU’s Chinese language courses are among the world’s most popular, due to their excellent quality. Moreover, Taiwan is an ideal place for learning traditional Chinese characters to better connect with classic Chinese literature and culture. Apart from learning Chinese full-time, students can also take Chinese courses in addition to any other academic program. To help them get settled in Taiwan and learn about local culture, NTU offers free Chinese courses for its international students.

With the biggest university library in Taiwan, extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and over 400 student clubs, NTU boasts premier student resources. NTU’s beautiful campus is located right in the center of vibrant Taipei and easily accessible by public transports. Surrounded by a wide variety of cultural attractions, entertainment choices, and amenities, it offers both a quiet retreat for studying as well as easy access to a buzzing Asian metropolis.

NTU has many scholarships available for prospective students that can be applied for along with submitting your application. The government of Taiwan, other organizations, and your respective colleges also provide scholarships for international students. 

  • International Student Financial Assistance Grant
    • Requirements: All international degree students can apply
    • Benefits: One of the following:
      – Full tuition waiver + monthly stipend of NTD 6,000 (USD 200)
      – Full tuition waiver
    • Maximum Duration: 4 years
  • Scholarship for Overseas Students Admitted through Recommendation by High Schools
    • Requirements: Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, or Macao students admitted to NTU through Recommendation by Overseas High Schools
    • Benefits: One of the following:
      – Full tuition waiver + monthly stipend of NTD 6,000 (USD 200)
      – Full tuition waiver
    • Maximum Duration: 4 years
  • Outstanding International Graduate Student Scholarship
    • Requirements:
      All international degree students can apply (We recommend that you contact your potential supervisor regarding scholarship possibilities)
    • Benefits:
      – Tuition waiver of up to NTD 130,000 (USD 4,333) each academic year
      – Minimum Monthly Stipend: Master’s NTD 6,000 (USD 200) / PhD NTD 8,000 (USD 265)
      – Maximum Duration: Master’s students ≤ 2 years / PhD students ≤ 3 years
