The PhD Program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) for International Students is administered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Dong Hwa University. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the largest college of NDHU, has a strong faculty support in both Humanities and Social Sciences and integrates excellence in teaching and research resources. Particularly, Social Sciences at NDHU was ranked among the world’s top 1% most cited research field by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

One of the unique features of our International TCSL PhD Program is that it is the only one of its kind in Taiwan that is exclusively for international students. Since then, the courses in the Program, designed and tailored based on the learning conditions and needs of international students, are country-specific in contents and teaching formats.

The design of its curriculum emphasizes "Teaching & Practice" and "Country-specific differences". It will combine the language, culture and teaching scenes of different countries to cultivate talents in Chinese language teaching research and practice, including different phenomena in language acquisition, cultural differences and practice among students from different countries.

This program will take into account the different needs of students. Students who already have teaching experience will have practical teaching opportunities. Students without teaching experience will have sufficient internship courses to develop a flexible, free and diverse learning environment.
