In 2006, NTJCPA has become National Taiwan College of Performing Arts, from which have many traditional performing artists graduated.
The Neihu Campus of NTCPA is an important cultural landmark in Neihu, while Mucha Campus, located in Wenshan District, has the most professional theater and equipments in southern Taipei. The college has Department of Jing Ju (Department of Chinese Opera), Department of Acrobatics, Department of Xi Qu Music (Department of Traditional Music), Department of Taiwanese Opera, Department of Theater Arts, and Department of Hakka Opera. With the efforts of all the students and teaching staff, NTCPA strives to pass down the folk and Chinese cultures, attempting to serve as a significant meeting point of the traditional and contemporary arts.
Under the influences of globalization, we have actively put strong emphasis on cross-cultural learning and interation, becoming a sister school with many celebrated colleges including Université de Paris-8, PARIS VIII University, National Institute of Circus Arts, NICA, and Shobi University. Aside from the practical training in Taiwanese Opera, students are also provided with the courses of theories, history, theater management and so on, in the hope that they can not only introduce Taiwanese Opera to the international audience but also pass down this valuable cultural heritage in local society.

The Department of Theatre Arts has a professional faculty, whose rich practical experiences can be a profound contribution to theater education. Apart from humanities, NTCPA also provides students with various courses which fall into the field of either theater technology or costume technology. Theater technology includes lighting and stage. The students of NTCPA can also take courses about theater management and basic design, which can help the students build a comprehensive understanding of theater. In addition to the formal curriculum, NTCPA also provides the students with many extracurricular activities so as to enrich their practical experiences and enhance their professional skills.
