National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) was established in Southern Taiwan as a school of tropical agriculture in 1924. The university is currently comprised of seven colleges: Agriculture; Engineering; Management; Humanities & Social Science; International; Veterinary Medicine; and Professional Studies. NPUST’s vast and beautiful 298-hectare campus has earned it the reputation of “national park university” and with a commitment to caring for the environment, NPUST has ranked first in Taiwan on the UI GreenMetric University Ranking seven years in row— and 4th in Asia, in 2020.
(1) NPUST Scholarship to Excellent Foreign Students
a. Coverage
Bachelor: Free tuition fee or free accommodations;
Master & PhD: Full scholarship (tuition fee-waived, maximum 12 credits fee-waived/semester, on-campus dormitory fee-waived, with monthly stipend) or partial scholarship (tuition fee-waived, maximum 12 credits fee-waived/semester, on-campus dormitory fee-waived, without monthly stipend).
b. Eligibility
Bachelor: Sophomore, Junior and Senior; Average grades 75%/year or above
Master: Year 1 to 2; Average grades 80%/year or above; TOEFL paper 520 points or above
PhD.: Year 1 to 3 or 4; Average grades 80%/year or above; TOEFL paper 520 points or above.
(2) NPUST PhD Assistantship
a. Coverage
PhD: Tuition waiver, monthly stipend will be NTD14,000 (around USD467) at least.
b. Eligibility
TOFEL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, TOECI 785, or BULATS ALTE Level 3, fulfil the requirement by the advisor’s permission.
